Our Clinic
Who are we?
Axiom Health Clinic has been established as its own clinic as of January 2020, after shifting from a partnership with the very successful Mission Naturopathic Clinic for the past 9 years. Dr. Berg’s practice has been in Kelowna since 2006, and she is excited to offer a dynamic team at the clinic to offer an array of therapies. They strive to provide you the most health-optimizing environment and experience possible. We offer many different tools to support you on your healing journey, from Intravenous therapy, to nutritional advice and counselling. We have a holistic approach to both Mind, Body and Soul.
What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is health care that treats the underlying cause of disease. It utilizes the art and science of supporting the natural healing processes of the patient through the removal of obstacles.
It is a preventative medicine that deals with the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical bodies. It utilizes therapeutics that support or enhance a patient’s overall health.
The treatments are designed individually, and with the goal of teaching the patient how to become empowered over their health.
In B.C., Naturopathic Doctors are licensed to be primary care physicians. They are trained as general practitioners in complementary medicine and provide a full range of diagnostic tests and therapies.
The main tenants in Naturopathic Medicine are as follows:
– To do no harm.
– To cooperate with the healing powers of nature.
– To address the fundamental cause of disease.
– To heal the whole person through individualized treatments.
– To teach the principles of healthy living and preventative medicine.
What is the training of a Naturopath?
All licensed Naturopathic Doctors must have a minimum of 3 years pre-medical training from a university; followed by a four-year intensive Naturopathic medical training at an accredited school. In the Naturopathic colleges, students receive roughly 1,500 hours of basic and clinical sciences, 1,900 hours of standard medical therapeutics (pharmacology, internal medicine, laboratory diagnosis, etc.), and extensive training in naturopathic techniques.
The Doctors must also pass board exams to be able to practice. They may also undergo additional training in things like acupuncture, IV therapy, chelation, prolotherapy, homeopathy, etc.
What to expect on the first visit?
We request that new patients print off the consent form and appropriate intake form from our Intake Forms attachments below.
By printing these forms and bringing them to your appointment filled in, you save having to come to your appointment 20 minutes early. We will collect a urinalysis on your first visit, so please arrive prepared. Your first appointment will be a 60 minute complete assessment with our holistic nutritionist, and she will be performing a several urine and blood tests, as well as a complete vitamin and mineral check. Please bring along any supplements you are currently taking so they can also be assessed on this initial appointment.
After this appointment, you will then visit with the ND, which is typically 80-90 minutes, where a comprehensive health assessment is taken including medical history, dietary habits, emotional stress, exercise, environmental toxin exposure, and current health conditions. A physical exam may also be part of the assessment, as well as lab tests may be indicated (either onsite or via referral).
Our Services
We specialize in the following treatments:
Acupuncture
Allergy Desensitization
Allergies to foods or various environmental triggers can be debilitating and progressive. Our clinic uses several techniques to help desensitize your system to this common condition. This can be done safely and effectively via either pollenguard prescriptions, or MORA electrodermal treatments.
Botanical Medicine
This treatment uses herbs in tea and/or tincture form to aid the body in its healing process. It is often very effective in acute conditions like urinary tract infections, cold/flu, etc.
B12 / Folic Acid Injections
Often our society is deficient in B12 and folic acid. This small and safe intramuscular injection provides an excellent means to raise these levels, particularly when a common problem in deficiency is absorption not intake. These injections are a useful form of therapy for pernicious anemia, general fatigue, fibromyalgia, MS, and chronic fatigue.
Chelation
Heavy metals, like lead, mercury, arsenic, etc., are all around us: in foods we eat, the water we drink, the products we use. They tend to accumulate in the body and can have detrimental effects in the body when the levels are elevated or compounded by more than one heavy metal in the body. They often affect neurological tissue, kidney function, hormone balance, and immune systems. One defence we have against heavy metals is chelation. This uses various agents like EDTA or DMSA to remove these heavy metals from the body.
Cosmetic Homeopathic Treatments
From wrinkle reduction to thigh firming to breast tightening to hair replenishing, these specific homeopathic preparations from Europe are injected superficially into the skin in the corresponding areas. These treatments are quick and safe treatments performed by the ND to achieve your cosmetic goals without harmful side effects often associated with cosmetic surgeries and procedures.
Detoxification
This is an important process of removing all the toxic chemicals from the body, which often accumulate through our everyday lives. We are exposed to chemicals constantly in the food we eat, the air we breathe and the beverages we drink. Detoxification is accomplished through many different therapies but may involve any of the following: dietary suggestions, supplements, infrared saunas, homeopathics, etc. This process allows our body to rest in order to eliminate the chemicals we don’t always have time to deal with.
Homeopathy
This therapy uses principles from the age-old homeopathic medicines, as single remedies and combinations to create a balance within the body. They are very safe to use and can often be used in conjunction with prescription medicines. It works very effectively for such things as detoxification, allergies, stress, hormonal imbalances, childbirth, etc. They are also very effective for most ailments of children and infants.
IV Therapy
This treatment uses high dose vitamins and minerals that are directly administered to the bloodstream, thereby passing the absorption processes of the GI tract. These therapeutic levels of vitamins and minerals cannot be reached via oral doses. There is a large volume of research showing the benefits of high dose vitamin/minerals in the body, particularly when these nutrients are deficient. This treatment is very effective in cancer, sports medicine, immune enhancement and viral infections.
Labs
There are several lab tests that can be done at the clinic when further information may be required. They can include heavy metal analysis, salivary hormones, blood-spot allergy testing, zinc analysis, comprehensive stool analysis and parasitology, and blood tests. We also offer various allergy testing at the office, from allergy scratch testing to VEGA-type electrodermal testing.
Lifestyle Counselling
This is a very broad category as it can incorporate stress management, personal issues, goal setting, life balancing, fitness incorporation, etc. The main goal of counselling here is to provide a safe environment to encourage growth and development.
Mesotherapy & Lipo-reduction Therapy
This therapy is a French technique that is used to treat areas of cellulite and fatty deposits on the hips, belly, thighs, buttocks, back, and arms. It actually helps to eliminate fat cells to give a firmer and tighter appearance.
Nebulized Glutathione
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant in the body, helping to combat elements that create damage known as free radicals. This therapy is administered via inhalation of glutathione gas (the most optimal way to administer it to the body). This is very effective in cancer and sports medicine.
Nutritional Plans
Personalized diet assessment and plans created by our Registered Holistic Nutritionist are based on a patient’s individual needs. For health issues such as allergies, GI complaints, weight loss, cardiovascular health, and diabetes – the appropriate diet can be formulated. This may also involve the use of various supplements, and there is often a focus on nutritional deficiencies that are so common in our society today.
Neural Therapy, Trigger Point Injections & Scar Therapy
This therapy uses injections of local anesthetic and B Vitamins into autonomic ganglia, peripheral nerves, scars, glands, and trigger points for chronic pain and illnesses. It is believed to act through normalizing the function of the nervous system to the affected area and/or breaking down scar tissue.
Neural Prolotherapy
Neural prolotherapy is founded on the premise that hundreds of nerves exist just beneath the skin and play a key role in regulating pain and healing. When small injections are administered along the nerve routes, it is believed we can regulate the immune system induce healing to these areas. These injections are often used in circumstances of pain, both acute and chronic.
Ozone & Oxidative Therapies
Ozone and Hydrogen peroxide is used in these therapies to stimulate many different processed in the body; from increasing energy production, modulating the immune system, clearing infections like bacteria and viruses. It is also an anti-ageing and anti-cancer treatment. Dr. Berg uses this treatment quite often in her protocols for addressing chronic Lyme, though there are many benefits to be had by using ozone both topically and internally.
Pharmacology
ND’s in BC, once completing board certification, can prescribe pharmaceutical medications and compounded medicine from local pharmacies. This prescriptive authority allows ND’s to serve as a more primary care role in a patient’s health.
Prolotherapy
This therapy uses injections of solution, including anesthetic and dextrose, to help reconstruct new tendons and ligaments in areas like our joints. It is used for injuries, pain and arthritis. The purpose of the injection is to stimulate the body’s regeneration processes, thereby assisting in the production of new connective tissue.
Vitamin/Mineral/Homeopathic Injections
This works on a similar principle as IV therapy, but a small amount is injected superficially or intramuscularly to target the areas and allow a slower release. There are different combinations available, which can be very effective for infections, fatigue, acute injuries, migraines, and menstrual cramping to name just a few.

Dr Berg has taken her passion about health and healing to another level, when she authored the book THE COURAGEOUS CURE in 2018 where she dives into the roots of disease and how we can heal. Amber Batke
Holistic Nutritionist
My name is Amber Batke and I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Functional Nutritionist. I have my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia and am a proud wife and mother of two. I discovered my passion for health and wellness when my children were quite young. It was important to me to learn all that I could so that I could raise strong and healthy daughters.
My own personal health journey has allowed me to discover a deep interest in the emotional connection to illness and how that can be shifted towards healing. I learned about stress management, self care, and setting boundaries to achieve balance. I learned how to find my joy, challenge myself and trust my instincts. I believe firmly in the connection between mind, body, and spirit and understand that healing must be addressed at each level. I understand and recognize that everyone is an individual, with individual needs, therefore, any plan I create will be written with your specific needs and challenges in mind.
I enjoy working with Dr. Berg and Dr. Wolter because I believe in the work they are doing, and the environment in which they have created for their patients. I believe that a practice is stronger when there is a team of professionals who each bring a unique skill or specialty to the table. Where there is collaboration and consultation, there is success.
Self-care and tailored nutrition is a major part of my life. I recognize that it is important to rest, recover and rejuvenate, so if I am not in the office, I am riding my bike, paddleboarding, playing soccer, enjoying my friends and family or just curled up at home in my pajamas. I am mindful of my nutrition needs and focus on consuming local, organic and nutrient dense foods. I choose foods that fuel me and although I am not the best cook, I love to experiment and try to improve upon a recipe’s nutrition profile.
I invite you to make an appointment to see me. It can be as little or as much time as you need. I am here to answer questions, guide you towards resources, support you in a meal plan or compliment a program you are already doing with your Naturopathic Doctor or other healthcare provider. My purpose is to support and educate you on your path to health and wellness.

Joya is a busy mother of two and a huge animal lover. When she’s not at the clinic, she enjoys being outside, hiking, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
Robertson Fait, Office Manager
You will likely find Robertson behind the scenes, making sure orders are made and products are available for you. He has a background in business management and managerial roles. He also was an RCMP auxiliary.
He tends to be the jack of all trades, as times answering phones, running errands, to fixing anything broken. He also has his hand in beekeeping, and currently in training with building biology to design safe homes to protect from EMFs.
In his free time he loves the outdoors: hiking, fishing, golfing and skiing. He loves nature and travel, and even more if he gets to do it with his family. Being Dr. Berg’s husband, with their 2 beautiful daughters, he’s busy making supporting them in their day to day as well.

Does insurance cover naturopathic care?
As of January 2002, provincial subsidies for naturopathic care were cut. At present, there is no MSP coverage unless you are on premium assistance (which can be limited). Most extended health care plans (i.e. private plans) do cover visits (usually around 80% of costs).
Be sure to check with your own insurance prior to visiting. Patients are required to pay onsite and then remit the fees afterwards to their own insurance companies.
